Mercedes & Family is a mental health practice dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities overcome life’s challenges and reach their fullest potential. Founded by Licensed Professional Counselor Billy Mercedes, our team of compassionate professionals provides comprehensive services tailored to each client’s unique needs.

We offer flexible service options to fit your lifestyle, including in-person sessions, telehealth appointments, and in-home visits (depending on the service). With therapy available in both English and Spanish, we strive to make mental health support accessible to all.

Mercedes & Family

Contact Perform Care

Call PerformCare at 877-652-7624 and request in-home therapeutic services for your child.

Step 02

Eligibility Assessment

If eligible, PerformCare will arrange for a care manager to visit your home and assess your child's needs.

Step 03

Request Mercedes & Family

During your meeting, ask to work specifically with Mercedes & Family. The care manager will connect with us to confirm availability.

Step 04

Begin Therapy

Once confirmed, a therapist from Mercedes & Family will be assigned to begin in-home support tailored to your family’s needs.

What types of therapy do you offer?

Mercedes & Family offers a variety of therapy options tailored to individual needs, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy (including EMDR), family therapy, and play therapy for children. Our team is dedicated to providing personalized care for individuals, families, and children.

Do you provide in-home services?

Yes, we offer some in-home services for clients who may benefit from therapy in a familiar environment. This is especially helpful for children and teens with behavioral challenges, as well as families who may find it more convenient and comfortable.

How do I know which therapist is the best fit for me or my family member?

Our intake team can help match you with the right therapist based on your unique needs, preferences, and goals. Each therapist brings specialized expertise, so we strive to ensure a compatible fit for every client.

What age groups do you work with?

We provide mental health services for clients of all ages, from young children and adolescents to adults and families. Each age group receives tailored support to meet their specific developmental and therapeutic needs.

Do you accept insurance?

Mercedes and Family currently does not accept private insurance. However, we do work with NJ State Medicaid and offer a Self-Pay option to ensure our services are accessible. For more information about payment options and rates, please contact our administrative team.

What can I expect during the first session?

During the first session, your therapist will work with you to understand your goals, challenges, and expectations for therapy. This initial meeting is a chance to build rapport, establish comfort, and discuss how we can best support you.

What unique programs do you offer for youth?

We offer several specialized youth programs, including the Mercedes Boxing Program, which helps build discipline, resilience, and physical wellness. Additionally, we provide support for behavioral issues and academic success through our school-based and in-home services.

What is the Mercedes & Family approach to trauma therapy?

We take a compassionate, evidence-based approach to trauma therapy, utilizing methods like EMDR and cognitive processing therapy to help clients process traumatic experiences safely. Our goal is to support healing and empower clients to regain control of their lives.

Can family members be involved in therapy sessions?

Our intake process starts with an initial consultation, during which we gather information to understand your needs and determine the best therapist match. Once paired with a therapist, we’ll schedule your first session and answer any questions you may have.

How can referral sources connect with your team?

Referral sources can connect with us directly through our “Get In Touch” button or by emailing our team. We value collaboration and are happy to provide information or discuss potential client needs.
